Meet with photographer Jeff Richter!
On Wednesday, February 24 at 3 p.m., the Koller Memorial Library is proud to sponsor photographer Jeff Richter for a special program at the library. Jeff will be talking about his new photography book "Pure Superior." Copies will be available for sale.
Jeff Richter is an award-winning, nationally published nature photographer, whose main goal in life is to be routinely as far away from a phone as possible. Always an avid outdoorsman, his natural inclinations led him to work as a logger and a trapper. In 1990 Jeff put the traps away, picked up a camera, and never looked back. Mainly self-taught, he had his first image published in 1993 and subsequently has had hundreds of images appear in print.
The Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, Audubon, NorthWord Press, Willow Creek Press, Brown Trout, Wisconsin Trails magazine and Loonwatch are some of the publishers and environmental groups that have used Jeff's photographs.
Jeff has won both national and regional awards, including a 2001 IRMA (International Regional Mazagine Award) for his photo essay on albino deer; and two finalists in the 2002 British Gas/BBC International Photographer of the Year competition.
His first book, Seasons of the North, was an instant classic and is now in its fourth printing. To this day Jeff remains as intrigued and excited by both the art and the artistry of photography and the natural world.
